Education Ministry Purpose
The Education Work Area supports the Director of Christian Education by recruiting Sunday School teachers, finding volunteers for Marketplace (Vacation Bible School), planning family activities such as the Halloween party for UNICEF or other family events, and assisting with Sunday School Mission Projects. The Education Work Area typically meets 4-5 times a year or as needed by the Director of Christian Education.
Goals
- Using Jesus as a model, learn in community what it means to live God's way.
- Create an environment where children, youth and adults are encouraged to wonder and question.
- Foster a sense of acceptance, belonging, and connectedness to the greater church family among children, youth, and adults.
- Experience making a difference in the work by participating in local community outreach activities and global mission endeavors.
- Relate Sunday morning to the rest of the week.
- Experience Bible stories as a child and revisit them many times throughout life-long Christian education.
- Apply Christian education to our lives, choices and actions.
- Create a welcoming, fun atmosphere through engaging, age-appropriate learning activities.
- Beginning in childhood, through worshiping as a family, experience church traditions.
